Крутов Василь Васильович

Krutov Vasyl Vasyliovych is a well-known public activist, the main ideologist of the non-state security system of Ukraine, who offered new approaches to the problems of national security in the country via separating it from the non-state component. He was born in Frunze Village, Henichesk District in Kherson region on May 16, 1949.
In 1976, he graduated with honors from Zaporizhia State Pedagogic Institute. In 1996, he graduated with honors from the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine. His career began at the Zaporizhstal Plant.
Krutov wrote around 70 research and 200 publicist projects on national security and fight against terrorism. He is a member of the expert council of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine for National Security Issues, the expert council of the State Accreditation Commission of the Education and Science Ministry of Ukraine for computer science and technology and national security, and specialized councils on defending of candidate's and doctoral dissertations.
He held the positions of deputy and first deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine in 1998-2002 and 2005, first deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in 2005-2006. In 1994-1998, he headed the department for fight against terrorism and protection of participants of criminal proceedings and law enforcement employees at the Security Service of Ukraine (special detachment Alpha). He was involved in hundreds of covert military operations and special activities. He carried out numerous tasks of the government and the Security Service of Ukraine abroad. In 2003 he founded and headed an international non-governmental organization entitled "International Anti-Terrorism Unity," which is the only Ukrainian participant in the Conference of International Non-Governmental Organizations of the Council of Europe.
