Макаренко Валентин Іванович

ULIE Vice President, Director General of the Ukrainian Metallurgical Company, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Secondary Metals Association UA VTORMET

Makarenko Valentyn Ivanovych was born in Chernihiv region on November 30, 1965. He graduated from Kyiv Institute for National Economy named after D.S. Korotchenko with a degree in economy with a specialization in planning of national economy spheres in 1989. In 2010, he took a Senior Executive MBA course at the International Management Institute (MIM-Kyiv).

His career started at Kyiv-based company Elektronmash. He passed the way from workshop economist to department head. From 1997, he headed companies and their associations in the sphere of recycling and supply of raw materials for domestic and foreign metallurgic companies. He held the leading positions at Ukrmetal Ltd., CJSC Kyivvtormet and Ukrlomprom. Today he holds the position of director general of Ukrainian Metallurgical Company Ltd. From 2003, he chairs the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Secondary Metals Association UA VTORMET on a voluntary basis.

At the ULIE he is in charge of mining and smelting industry development issues, in particular he deals with organizational, legal and economic issues concerning the gathering and recycling of secondary materials, production of metal products and related metallurgy products, modernization and construction of new mining and smelting facilities in Ukraine, taxation and business operations in Ukraine.

He was awarded several times with the certificates of honor from the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Industrial and Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship, the Industrial Policy Ministry, Kyiv mayor, Kyiv Municipal Organization of Employers and the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
