Participants in the National Forum "The Transformation of Ukraine" in Kyiv consolidated the conclusions of the discussion in a joint statement.
"We think that today, when the preservation of Ukraine's statehood is an acute problem, it is a top priority task to implement effective reforms and introduce consistent changes in all spheres. Best efforts should be applied for modern democratic and competitive development of Ukraine, strengthening of democracy and supremacy of law, achievement of European standards of living for Ukrainian citizens," reads the statement.
The forum participants stressed that effective reform implementation is impossible without an honest, effective and regular mutually responsible dialogue between the government and public associations with the participation of the international community. The activists also expressed their intention to use the best European practices of state building and streamline technologies, knowledge and experience of successful transformation of other EU member states with Ukrainian realities. They also spoke out in favor of the full implementation of a free trade area agreement between Ukraine and the EU from January 1, 2016.
The authors of the statement also supported an initiative of the Anti-Crisis Council of Non-Governmental Organizations of Ukraine to elaborate and introduce a program of transformations in the country.
The statement also contains a proposal to organize sectoral forums for the discussion of reform plans in all spheres of Ukraine's economic and social life – business environment, agriculture, energy, education and science, justice, social protection, development of the civil society, a free trade area between Ukraine and the EU, etc. The forum participants also stressed that regular cooperation between civil society and the authorities, including the president, parliament, government, and international community, was necessary.
The National Forum "The Transformation of Ukraine" has to become a regular platform for discussions at the national and regional levels. Representatives of non-governmental organizations, business associations, education, culture, and science spheres, clergy, international community, and diplomatic missions think that the forum is an effective instrument for holding a public dialogue aimed at forming a single strategy for a technical, social, and economic upgrade of Ukraine.
The participants also decided to hold the next forum in December 2015 and discuss the issues related to the development of the social society during it.
