As we have recently seen, even in Europe with its temperate climate, the consequences of rapid climatic change are catastrophic. The "Green Deal" was adopted in the European Union to achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and it needs tangible results right now. Today, 25% of CO2 emissions come from the transport sector, in which only rail transport has shown a reduction in these emissions in recent years with a simultaneous increase in traffic. It is no coincidence that 2021 has been declared the European Year of Railways in the EU. However, practical steps are now needed to implement the Green Deal.
This year, at the 30th International Economic Forum "Europe in Search of Leadership" to be held on September 7-9 in Karpacz, Poland, the IHSM Company is honoured to propose a GREEN TRANSIT initiative, which will be a practical tool to achieve the goals of the Green Deal in the transport sector and related industries.
At the three discussion panels of the forum, speakers from Europe, Central and East Asia, the Persian Gulf and the United States will present interconnected projects that not only reduce global CO2 emissions, but also give "the right to green transit" to all participants. Among them - the international project of intermodal (rail - sea) high-speed mainline (IHSM), which complements, integrates and gives impetus to the development of Rail Baltica projects, the Three Seas initiative (Trimarium), TEN-T network, expands transport accessibility, at least to the Caspian Sea in the east, and in the future to the Persian Gulf and India in the south, as well as a number of other "green" innovation projects.
The Green Transit initiative fits in perfectly with the demands of a time when the priority issue of reducing CO2 emissions is on a par with the need to rebuild the economy in the post-crisis period.
