A delegation from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is currently in the Ukrainian capital for a working visit: Mr. William Thompson, Head of the Eurasia Division of the OECD, and Mr. Gregor Virant, Head of the OECD-EU "Sigma" Program.
The partners aim to explore the opinions of Ukraine's business community regarding the prospects, challenges, and opportunities of the country's recovery from the full-scale aggression of the russian federation.
Anatoliy Kinakh, President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (ULIE) and Chairman of the Anti-Crisis Economic Stability Task Force, met with representatives of the OECD. He emphasized the necessity of broad foreign capital involvement in the tasks of rebuilding the war-affected infrastructure (transportation, housing, etc.) and the development of production capacities of Ukrainian industrial enterprises.
The President of ULIE stressed that these processes should take place within the framework of public-private partnerships and comply with OECD criteria such as the rule of law, protection of private property, improvement of corporate governance, anti-corruption measures, and others.
In response, the partners informed about the OECD's commitments and support for Ukraine, referring to specific actions included in the Ukrainian National Program for 2023-2027.
It is worth noting that ULIE is an observer organization in the Business at OECD association (BIAC). This business association officially operates under the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, representing more than 50 national industrial and entrepreneurial organizations, which collectively represent over 7 million companies.
ULIE has already held a series of conferences with BIAC and OECD representatives, including submitting recommendations from Ukrainian businesses on Ukraine's recovery to a meeting of ambassadors from OECD member countries.
The efforts of the business union in cooperation with Business at OECD aim to intensify investment cooperation and accelerate Ukraine's accession to the OECD. By the way, this is the focus of the OECD Liaison Office in Kyiv, which has been operating since 2023.
Last year, Ukraine signed a partnership agreement with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, initiating a four-year program to support reforms and reconstruction, which will also help us approach membership in the organization and the European Union.
