ULIE became an observer member in Business at OECD

The Board of Directors of Business at OECD voted on October 4 in Paris for granting Ukrainian industrialists observer status.

The ULIE President Anatolii Kinakh was informed about this decision by the Chairman of the Association Charles Rick Johnston during a videoconference.

"We, at the level of both the organization and its individual member companies, will be happy to cooperate with you," Mr. Johnston said.

Business at OECD is an independent international business association that advises governments and policy makers in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. It unites 50 national associations, more than 7 million companies of all sizes.

"Thus, Ukrainian business has new opportunities to strengthen communication with partners from all developed countries of the world," Anatolii Kinakh emphasized.

He thanked Business at OECD for such a positive decision, and also noted that some time ago Ukraine also applied for membership in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.  To strengthen and expand the OECD policy to support Ukraine, a coordination office has been established in Paris which will be moved to Kyiv in the future.

Therefore, there is significant progress in cooperation with the OECD both at the political and business levels.

ULIE will make every effort in the status of an observer to fulfill the mission and priorities of the Business in the OECD Association, in particular, the development of the business climate in Ukraine in the long term.

According to Anatolii Kinakh, this will strengthen investors' confidence in our country even despite the difficult time of war.

Charles Johnston agrees with this.

"Your country has excellent prospects. Now the topic of Ukraine and its reconstruction is the core in our discussions. Therefore, we are happy and interested in building relations with the ULIE, we appreciate your opinion and proposals," he stressed.

In particular, the substantial proposals prepared by ULIE on the economic recovery of Ukraine, modernization of its key industries, promising areas for foreign investment, etc. will be used during the informal meeting of the Executive Director of Business at OECD Hanni Rosenbaum with the ambassadors of the OECD member countries.

Further cooperation will be intensified.  After our country is admitted to the OECD, the status of the ULIE as an observer will automatically change to a full-scale member of Business at OECD.

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organization that unites 38 countries, most of which are countries with high incomes and high HDI (Human Development Index). The headquarters is located in Paris (France).
