RSJ Investments is a Czech investment company with over EUR 300 million´s worth of assets under management. We have a wide portfolio of projects in real estate, agricultural land, information technology, biotechnology and production of healthy food as well as energy from renewable sources. We own and manage a straw-fired power plant in Northern Bohemia (5 MWel).
In Ukraine we would like to use our experience and invest into bioenergy projects. Now, we focus on heat production from biomass, but later we would like to move on to power production from biomass, especially straw. We have already found a suitable project which could serve as a model for our later biomass-to-heat projects. There is a memorandum of understanding between us and the municipality which would buy heat from us. We are simultaneously working on a legal base for heat production, heat sales and fuel supply. We would like to start producing heat at the beginning of heating season 2019/2020. At this very moment, we are trying to secure bank funding.
We closely cooperate with several reliable partners. In searching for projects in Ukraine as well as evaluating them, we are advised by Kyiv consulting and engineering company, SEC Biomass. Another partner is BFS Industry which is ready to help us assess and implement projects in Ukraine. BFS Industry has built two straw-fired power plants in the Czech Republic as well as two power plants run on wood chips in Croatia. They have also carried out several other consulting and engineering projects. Národná energetická runs a network of district heating systems in 10 Slovak cities (mostly fuelled by biomass) and is keen on expanding their activities to Ukraine. Czech biomass boiler manufacturing company TTS has already built two boilers on straw in Ukraine (Nikopol) and is ready to supply their technology for our Ukrainian projects.
